Pottery

In my fairy tale world I would be a potter all the time. Not because I wanted to make a living with it but because I love the process. My class of fellow potters encourage me periodically to go back to the wheel, the standard functioning potters "canvas", however, am drawn to hand-building because I never make any two things the same. If you find one of my pieces you can assume it is a one of a kind because I rarely make a set. You may have one of my birdhouses but they all have their own individualized  character. I'm very tactile. I love the smooth coolness of a piece of pottery and at the same time love the roughness if someone textured a glaze or the clay itself. I very much enjoy making the glazes appear to have texture any way I can make that happen. I have many failures and often my favorite pieces are simply a happy mistake. The kiln god's can giveth and taketh away.

I like all forms of pottery, woodfiring, raku and electric. My pottery style is that I have no set style.

I have a full time job in the healthcare industry, so I only get to play in the dirt a handful of hours a week- but enjoy every minute of it. My husband and I live locally in Greensboro.
